Checking market prices…
The Light Crossbow trades the safety of healing builds for raw area damage. If you want to clear solo dungeons quickly and you are comfortable dodging mob attacks, this is one of the best picks.
When to use it
- Solo dungeons and open world PvE
- Fast fame farming once you know the mobs
- Players who prefer ranged combat
Skills
- Q: Explosive Bolt. Area damage. Your bread and butter on packs.
- W: Caltrops. Slows mobs that try to reach you. Drop it between you and the pack.
- E: Exploding Shot. Big delayed area damage. Line it up on grouped mobs.
How to play it
- Pull the pack and back off so they bunch up behind you.
- Drop W to slow them, then fire Q into the group.
- Land E when they are clumped together. This is where the clear speed comes from.
- Step out of telegraphed attacks. You do not have big heals to fall back on.
Gear notes
- Mage Cowl boosts your damage. Swap to a Guardian Helmet if you keep dying.
- Mercenary Jacket gives you one emergency heal.
- Mistcaller off-hand adds damage. A Torch is cheaper.
Upgrade path
Once you are comfortable, the community "solo meta core" is Guardian Helmet, Cleric Robe and Demon Boots on this same crossbow. It rewards taking hits at the right moment instead of avoiding everything.
